Dress Code: Representing Clip Clop with Professionalism

At Clip Clop Horse Adventure Camps, the learning starts before campers even step into a barn—it begins with how we dress. The horse world has a unique culture where practical, professional attire is both a tradition and a necessity. Horse people take pride in their industry, and dressing appropriately shows respect for their way of life and work environment.

As a respected horsemanship and youth leadership program, Clip Clop values professionalism and responsibility. When visiting host facilities, campers and staff represent Clip Clop—how we present ourselves helps build strong relationships and ensures we are welcomed back in the future.

Our horse industry dress code isn’t just about safety and comfort—it’s about immersing campers in the real-world equine environment. Whether at farms, ranches, competition venues, or training barns, dressing appropriately helps attendees fit in, learn industry standards, and build confidence as young equestrians. By following these guidelines, campers demonstrate leadership, respect, and a commitment to the horse world they’re here to explore.

Footwear Requirements

Attendees must wear sturdy, closed-toe boots suitable for the horse environment. Recommended options include:
✔ Cowboy boots
✔ Paddock boots
✔ Rubber boots
✔ Hiking boots

🚫 Strictly prohibited: Sandals, crocs, flip-flops, or any open-toed footwear.

🚫 Not recommended: Runners, as they lack stability and protection in equine settings.

Expect footwear to get wet, muddy, and exposed to manure, as attendees will be trekking through fields, paddocks, wet grass, creeks, arenas, and other outdoor areas.

Jeans Requirement

✔ Attendees must wear full-length, plain jeans with no rips or tears.
✔ Jeans provide protection, durability, and align with horse industry standards.

🚫 Not allowed: Yoga pants, leggings, shorts, skirts, or slacks.

Hair Guidelines

✔ Hair must be secured while working in the facility or handling horses for safety and visibility.
✔ Loose hair can obstruct vision, become tangled in farm equipment, or cause distractions.
✔ The common look for horse professionals includes:

  • Men: Short, neatly groomed hair.

  • Women: Ponytails, buns, braids, messy buns, or secured hair under a ball cap.

Hats

✔ Western hats, ball caps, and visors are commonly worn for sun protection and practicality.
✔ Many horse professionals prefer hats as an easy way to manage hair while working outdoors.

Shirt Requirements

✔ Western shirts, polo shirts, and collared shirts are the industry standard.
✔ Shirts should be neat, well-fitted, and tuckable for a professional look.

🚫 Not allowed:

  • Spaghetti straps, sleeveless shirts, crop tops, or shirts with writing/logos that are not horse-related.

Jewelry

✔ Horse professionals wear minimal to no jewelry for:

  • Safety reasons (to avoid entanglement or injury).

  • Comfort during physical activities.

  • Preventing loss of valuable items in the barn environment.

🚫 Not recommended: Dangly earrings, necklaces, bracelets, or rings that can catch on equipment.

Final Notes

The Clip Clop dress code is designed to:
✔ Ensure safety in all equine environments.
✔ Show professionalism and respect to our hosts.
✔ Educate attendees on appropriate attire in the horse industry.

By following these guidelines, attendees enhance their experience, reflect the values of Clip Clop, and maintain strong relationships within the equine community.
