At Clip Clop, we recognized this gap and created a trusted, standardized youth horseback riding program designed to support both riders and non-horse parents from day one.

Because horseback riding instruction in Canada is largely unregulated, many programs lack a clear plan for how children should start, progress, and finish their riding education.

Clip Clop fills this gap with a structured, step-by-step Rider Pathway that mirrors how children naturally learn complex physical, emotional, and leadership skills.

Our program is built around three clearly defined phases — Dependent, Semi-Dependent, and Independent — so riders always know what they are learning, why they are learning it, and what comes next.

As riders progress, instructors intentionally shift from hands-on guidance to coaching, ensuring each child develops confidence, judgment, and responsibility at the right pace.

This pathway is the backbone of the Clip Clop curriculum and ensures riders:

• start safely and confidently

• progress with purpose and consistency

• finish the program as capable, independent horse people

Crystal Kroetch & Carousel Stables (Calgary)

Crystal Kroetch, the driving force behind Carousel Stables, is a former member of the Canadian Equestrian Team and a Pan Am Games silver medalist. She brings unmatched experience in coaching, competition, and horse training. Her dedication has guided countless riders in building both skill and passion for the sport.

In partnership with her husband, she owns DK Saddlery, a custom saddle company providing high performance Western & English saddles in North America, Europe and Asia.

Shauna Cook & Carousel Ridge Stables (Edmonton/Sherwood Park)
At Clip Clop’s Edmonton/Sherwood Park home, Carousel Ridge Stables, we are proud to collaborate with owner and trainer Shauna Cook. A member of the Canadian Show Jumping Team with extensive Grand Prix-level achievements, Shauna offers the ideal professional and welcoming environment for our riders.
