Horseback Riding
&
Jumping Lessons
for Kids & Teens in
Calgary & Edmonton Areas

How Our Horseback Riding Lessons Work
Clip Clop riding lessons are taught in small groups and guided by trained instructors who follow the CC Horsemanship Levels. Riders learn through hands-on experience with horses, building skills progressively in a safe, supportive environment.
Riders advance based on skill and readiness, not age or speed.
Some move quickly, others take their time — both paths are supported.
Jump Smart
Our Learn-to-Jump Program
Jump Smart is Clip Clop’s learn-to-jump program, introduced at CC Levels 4–6. Before entering Jump Smart, riders complete CC Levels 1–3, where they build the essential foundations of riding, balance, control, safety, and horse care.
Jumping is considered an intermediate skill, and Jump Smart ensures riders understand what they’re doing — and why — before leaving the ground.
Why Jump Smart Helps Every Rider
-
Improves balance and body control
-
Teaches rhythm and all three paces
-
Builds confidence and timing
-
Strengthens riding skills — even for non-jumpers

Jumping is optional.
Riders can fully participate in riding lessons without jumping at any time.

Our Horses
Safe, Experienced Teacher Horses
Our horses are carefully selected for youth lessons and chosen for their calm, patient, and reliable nature. They have experience teaching children and teens and are trusted partners in our riding program.
At Clip Clop, our horses help teach your children — and your children learn to care for them in return.

The Winner’s Circle
As riders complete phases of the CC Horsemanship Levels, they celebrate earned level-ups in the Winner’s Circle alongside their parents and riding mates. These moments recognize progress, effort, and achievement — without pressure or rushing.

Progress Tracking
Clip Clop follows a clear learning pathway from CC Levels 1–10, with each rider’s progress tracked in their CC Levels 1–10 Booklet.
At each level, riders set goals and actively check off or stamp each skill as it is mastered, allowing them to clearly see their progress over time.
During every session, leaders monitor and assess rider development, provide feedback, and outline clear next steps.
Riders regularly share their progress with their parents, and families are notified when riders reach the Winner’s Circle, where parents are invited to attend and celebrate this earned milestone alongside their rider.
Choosing the Right Starting Level
Most riders begin at CC Levels 1–3, but riders joining us from other programs or returning to riding may start at a higher level. This guide helps families choose the best place to begin — and placements are always confirmed by our team to ensure safety and success.
